Studio Zee Pilates Announces Therapeutic Exercise Program

Did you know?
Pilates is a rehabilitative form of exercise and can be covered under your extended health benefits.

Pilates is a unique and effective method of strength training that focuses on attaining core stability while providing a safe complete workout. All Pilates exercises initiate from muscles of the deep abdominals, back, pelvis, and shoulder girdle. This mind body system of developing strength starts with basic principles.

These basic principles provide the basis for the exercises in the technique. Rather than being separate or discrete, these five principles – breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement and stabilization, and head and cervical placement – work together to create intelligent exercise that is both safe and rehabilitative.

Why Pilates for Rehab?

Teaching clients these principles ensures that they will become aware of how their bodies function. This is key with clients who have chronic neck, shoulder and/or back issues such as scoliosis, disc degeneration or any postural faults.

The Pilates method is now expanding into the neurological
rehabilitation field, helping those with MS, Parkinson's disease and those who have suffered a stroke. Improving function and
teaching muscle recruitment techniques through Pilates increases skill
level and mindfulness. This allows the client to be in control of
executing each exercise and reap the full benefits.

5 Reasons Why You Should Choose Pilates for Rehab:

1. Pilates incorporates biomechanical knowledge, emphasizing core strength and stability and restoration of the natural curves of the spine.

2. Pilates is safe and effective for any injury, and for any rehab client.

3. Pilates is respected, recommended and recognized worldwide by health professionals such as exercise physiologists, medical doctors, chiropractors and physical therapists.

4. Pilates mind-body focus can help those suffering from chronic pain disorders, to decrease pain and introduce coping methods/techniques.

5. Pilates not only improves a clients physical well being, but also promotes positive mental well being. This is an important factor while recovering from an injury, a positive mind set and focus is known to aid/assist for a better recovery.

Getting Started

Step #1
Book an initial assessment with the physiotherapist. The assessment will take approximately 30 minutes.

Step #2
The physiotherapist will asses you to determine whether or not you are a good "candidate" for Pilates/rehab.

Step #3
Depending on the assessment findings the physio will then recommend private therapeutic Pilates sessions with Studio Zee Pilates instructors. We can schedule your private appointments when they work best with your schedule Monday through Saturday.

Step#4
Re-assessment occurs as often as the physiotherapist feels is appropriate for your unique needs, and in keeping with the guidelines of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. This is required by most extended health companies in order for Studio Zee Pilates to continue to bill and work with you.

Please call the studio to book your initial assessment at 905 667-1045 or email info@studiozeepilates.com

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the studio at any time.
