Studio Zee Pilates Announces
Therapeutic Exercise Program
Did you
know?
Pilates is a rehabilitative form of exercise and can be covered under
your extended health benefits.
Pilates is a unique and effective method of strength
training that focuses on attaining core stability
while providing a safe complete workout. All Pilates
exercises initiate from muscles of the deep abdominals,
back, pelvis, and shoulder girdle. This mind body
system of developing strength starts with basic
principles.
These basic principles provide the basis for the
exercises in the technique. Rather than being separate
or discrete, these five principles – breathing,
pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement
and stabilization, and head and cervical placement
– work together to create intelligent exercise
that is both safe and rehabilitative.
Why Pilates for Rehab?
Teaching clients these principles ensures that
they will become aware of how their bodies function.
This is key with clients who have chronic neck,
shoulder and/or back issues such as scoliosis, disc
degeneration or any postural faults.
The Pilates method is now expanding into the neurological
rehabilitation field, helping those with MS, Parkinson's
disease and those who have suffered a stroke. Improving function and
teaching muscle recruitment techniques through Pilates increases skill
level and mindfulness. This allows the client to be in control of
executing each exercise and reap the full benefits.
